Monica is now celebrating twelve years in her home provided by Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County.

Stories of Hope and Home

Monica Jones

Monica’s family has been proud to stay in their home since 2014, celebrating twelve years of stability, growth, and new beginnings.

After experiencing homelessness, having a permanent place to live created life-changing opportunities for the Jones family. Her son, who has special needs, has been able to grow, progress, and gain the freedom to live his life. Her daughter has had a decent education and is now an author, pursuing her dreams with the security of knowing she has a place to return to.

When asked what first drew her to Habitat for Humanity, Monica reflects on a difficult moment in her life. Facing homelessness, she turned to faith and asked God what to do next. Habitat became the answer, offering not just a house, but a path forward.

She has also gained valuable skills and confidence, learning how to fix and maintain different things around the house.

In their own words...

"My favorite part about owning a house is knowing my children will always have a place to call home."
