Salisbury, MD; February 13, 2025 – To memorialize the passing of President Jimmy Carter, the Wicomico Democratic Club donated $1,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico. President and Mrs. Carter were deeply involved in humanitarian efforts, including leading the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Work Project for Habitat for Humanity International for more than 35 years. The Carter Work Project helped build, renovate, or repair more than 4,447 homes in the U.S. and other countries.
Jeremy Alexander, President of the Democratic Club of Wicomico County said, “It is with great pleasure for The Democratic Club of Wicomico County to donate $1000 to Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County. We made this donation in the memory of the 39th President of the United States of America, James “Jimmy” Earl Carter, Jr. He dedicated his life to public service and proved to be one of the greatest humanitarians especially with his work for Habitat for Humanity. His mission to help all Americans in need will be a lasting inspiration for all.”
Funding from the Democratic Club of Wicomico County will be used to offset construction costs on homes in the Salisbury, MD Church Street neighborhood, a focus area of building for HFHWC.

We are humbled to receive this gift in memoriam of President Carter and look forward to carrying on the Carter family legacy of service in the name of affordable homeownership,” said Christina Williams, Wicomico Habitat director of development.
Habitat’s construction of two new homes on Grace Street in Salisbury is ongoing, with the first scheduled to be sold to its Habitat Partner Family future homeowners in the spring.
