Salisbury, MD; August 25, 2025 – On Friday, August 25, 2025 Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County (HFHWC) celebrated the blessing of the Styles home, a newly constructed house on Grace Street in the Church Street neighborhood of Salisbury. On hand to welcome the new family were representatives from Senator Mary Beth Carozza’s and DHCD Secretary Jake Day’s offices; Jeff Merritt, Wicomico County Council Vice President; Josh Hastings of the Wicomico County Council; Angela Blake, Salisbury City Council Vice President; Sharon Dashiell, Salisbury City Council member; Monica Brooks, NAACP president; and HFHWC volunteers, board members, and staff. Pastor Dorothy Holden blessed the family and home.
The Styles family’s dream of homeownership came true this year after many years of struggling as renters to remain in one place. Ms. Styles, a hardworking mother of five says, “As I was renting, people would sell the homes out from underneath us. Me and my kids would have to get out. I made a promise to my kids that wouldn’t happen to us again.”
Generous community members and organizations helped bless the new home with gifts, including items from: Friends of the Wicomico Public Library, Dinner Express Catering, The Grocery Outlet, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Delmar Knitters Group, Rob & Christina Fuller, Rosa Rivera, and Shirleen Church.
